Pyfa team member here (yes, I stalk the competition ;P), would like to know more of this lack of stability for your machine.
Feel free to let us know here: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=247609 or send me a direct EVE mail or convo. Alternatively, submit an issue on GitHub: https://github.com/DarkFenX/Pyfa/issues.
I am always on the lookout for stability issues / bugs.

Well, since you're curious
Although, I believe pyfa is the only one that has been updated for this patch. =D
That being said, I'm sure Gripen is working to get EFT out. Sure, the March release has a fairly large changelog, but it wasn't too complex. A lot of it was simply module renames and conversions from the tiericide. The EWAR modules now have falloff, but that in itself is a pretty simple change. It'll probably get release in the next few days.

I'm using it for now out of necessity but I'll be back in EFT for that reason alone once it's updated. No offense ofc. PYFA does have a lot of features I like and it is more visually appealing, the implant issue is just way too much hassle.
No offense taken. Character implants have been on the back burner for way too long. It was never prioritized. I did make some progress with it a while back, the first progress in years, see https://github.com/pyfa-org/Pyfa/issues/422
The issue at the moment is how to tackle toggling character implants or fit-specific implants, both for the user and the best way to do it on the backend. Unlike EFT, I want character implants to show up in the fitting window so that Users are aware exactly what is being applied. I don't believe EFT does this. I ran out of energy at about this time, and haven't touched it since. But it's high on my list of things to do in the next few months.
Also, pyfa is open source, so I always welcome help in areas that people think are lacking. =D |

Also, pyfa is open source, so I always welcome help in areas that people think are lacking. =D Until such a day as implants can be unplugged or jump clone timers are changed I can't see there being that many ppl who actually swap out implants for specific fits. I'm certainly not throwing away entire sets of high grades or geno's just for a single ship. I might fly 4-5 different fits in any given afternoon. For implants in EFT I just have characters created using all possible implant sets I might swap into i.e. Daemun Geno, Daemun Slaves, Daemun Snakes etc. Then I make whatever fit I want and click the character drop down to see it's stats with any given set. Maybe if you could make it so that you're able to save implant sets much the same way you can save ship fits. That way a person can just drag the full presaved set into the implant tab or select the saved set from a drop down instead of having to add each and every implant every time. As for open source I'd love to be able to get into that kinda stuff but my programming knowledge is limited mostly to batch files and qbasic :)
You make good points. Implant sets are also a requested feature and on the todo list, but as for the implants themselves I think I was focused on how to mingle fit-specific implants (useful if you're wanting to figure out what the stats show with certain implants) with character-specific implants, without realizing that there isn't really a need to mix them. Thanks for the input! |

Then in the cargohold I put 4 torp types (180 ea) CN Inferno, Inferno Rage, Inferno Javelin, Sisters Core Scanner Probes x8...ALL good to here.
Tried to add 8 Sisters Combat Scanner Probes, quantity window does not open, Error Message reads "Floating Point Division by zero." For grins, I tried other charges and they will load, but not the Sister's Combat scanners.
Love EFT!!! Thanks.
Protip, posting the EFT format makes it easier for folks to check it. ;) |

Right ... thats pure BS, but OK. If 75.000 people would post "we are waiting" that would encourage him for sure. If 1.000.000 people would post he for sure would be so happy about the stunning amount of people liking is app, that he would finish it this night. So fyou and your "no amount". why don't you put in the hard work you spoilt little brat
If only EFT was open source. That's the excuse I make when I'm late or sluggish updating pyfa haha |

I just... can't get into it the same way. With Zifrian and Desmont McCallock both stepping down from their projects and Battleclinic disappearing there are precious few people left willing to take on these huge hobby-related projects. Nothing but respect that you're still in the game.
Hey, everyone has their preferences. =) |

When trying to add API to add skills/etc to ship, I get this error message:
"'4294967295' is not a valid integer value."
Am I really the only person who gets this error...?
Am I doing something so dumb you assume I'll figure it out?
Don't assume. I'm utterly dim with these things.
I generated a new key - same error.
Halp?
The 4294967295 number is the access mask of your API key. CCP recently added another API permission or two that bumped this mask to where the value is right on the 32-bit threshold, so the code probably doesn't know what to do with it. See https://developers.eveonline.com/blog/article/technical-note-integer-sizes-and-the-xml-api
Until Gripen fixes this, use a restricted API (remove some of the permissions API on the key management page) |

Just gonna throw this out here to the wolves. pyfa: Ascension release is in beta:
https://github.com/pyfa-org/Pyfa/releases/tag/preview_ascension
I've never advertised a pyfa link in this thread as I feel it's inappropriate - both are great tools that have similar functionality. However, as it seems that Gripen hasn't had the time or the interest to update EFT yet, hopefully pyfa can provide you with your theorycrafting needs until EFT is updated again. Just keep in mind this is still "beta" and some things don't work / aren't polished, yet. We always welcome contributions in the form of either bug/feature requests or pull requests :) |

Grymmstorm wrote:tried using Pyfa but they don't listen to feedback, so I am not even going to mess with it again.
Hi. I maintain the pyfa project. I take offense to this statement as it isn't true at all. What feedback have you given that was ignored?
Also, keep in mind that pyfa, unlike EFT, is an open source project - so if there is a feature missing and I don't have enough time to implement, the community can do so. Can't say that about EFT. Not only that, but I hardly ever see Gripen here conversing with the community, nor do i see him on TweetFleet Slack's #devfleet channel, so I don't see where you get the comparison that I don't listen to feedback but he does. Not to bash either you or Gripen, but I just think this is an unfair critisim. I've very approachable by a variety of means (email, GitHub issues, Tweetfleet Slack, pyfa Slack).
Grymmstorm wrote: Pyfa is run by arrogant pricks. Not worth using.
Could you please tell me how I am an arrogant prick? IIRC, I've never spoken to you before.

Blake Lowe wrote:If the developer releases the source it should (If it's programmed relatively neatly) be fairly easy for someone to update. As really all it needs are new ship types and updating of stats for modules and such.
You sweet summer child, one does not simply update a fitting tool. ;)
There's been some major game mechanic changes that have happened that need logic built out to support them. It's not just the database is out of date. |

Kalemi wrote:My biggest gripe with pyfa is the way it displays resists. Every other aspect of the ui just takes some getting used to compared to eft but the way resists are displayed is just so unintuitive it's really a huge pain to use. Is there a way to adjust so that shield/armor/hull are shown near each other and color coded by resist similar to eft?
pyfa dev here. I'm confused by your confusion...
https://gyazo.com/f31c2f2470bc320f3b11f2d237a568ec
pyfa has the resits for each damage type (in the same order as EFT) for shield, armor, and hull... |
